Q-LRS FOR USVS

A rapid, safe, and autonomous solution for deploying and recovering USVs up to 6 metres in length from naval vessels.

Efficient and reliable launch and recovery are critical for maximising the operational effectiveness of USVs. Q-LRS (Launch and Recovery System) has been specifically engineered for the safe and rapid deployment and retrieval of USVs up to 6 metres in length, including the FLANQ T12 and T18. This autonomous system minimises risk to personnel and maximises operational uptime and protects USVs from back-deck handling errors.

Q-LRS is designed for speed, enabling swift launch and retrieval of USVs, minimising time spent in vulnerable states and maximising operational tempo.

AUTONOMOUS ALIGNMENT AND CONTROL

Equipped with six thrusters and an intelligent control system, Q-LRS autonomously and dynamically aligns itself with the approaching USV during recovery, even in dynamic sea conditions. This autonomous alignment significantly simplifies the recovery process and reduces reliance on manual piloting at critical stages. Q-LRS significantly reduces the risk to personnel associated with traditional manual handling of USVs. This is especially important in rough seas or during nighttime operations, where manual handling can be hazardous.

RAPID DEPLOYMENT, AUTONOMOUS RECOVERY, ENHANCED SAFETY

VERSATILE VESSEL COMPATIBILITY

Q-LRS is designed for flexible deployment from a variety of vessels – including vessels-of-opportunity fitted with conventional A-frame arrangements over the stern, to modern naval vessels such as Germany’s F125 Frigate’s equipped with mid-ship multi-mission bays. Midship deployment frees up valuable aft deck space and enhancing safety by minimising the need for personnel to work over the stern in potentially hazardous conditions. Q-LRS can also be supplied as a containerised solution, Q-KONTAIN.

Q-LRS is integral to modern MAS operations, providing reliable and efficient deployment and recovery of USVs.

FEATURES

1

SCALABLE DESIGN TO FIT USVS

Q-LRS was conceived originally for T12 and T18 USVs, but its novel design can be scaled up to accommodate USVs 6 metres in length.

2

DYNAMIC VECTOR ALIGNMENT

As the USV approach docking, Q-LRS uses thrust vectoring to align itself the head of the vehicle, allowing the USV to drive straight in and latch into place.

3

SECURE LATCH AND LOCK

A large electrical latch at the front of the Q-LRS assembly automatically engages when it detects the USV is securely docked, ensuring safe lifting out of the water.

4

ENGINEERED AND BUILT TOUGH

Q-LRS is constructed using lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminium, ensuring durability, reduced weight, and optimal performance in harsh marine environments.
