SEMA TRAINING AUV

A versatile and cost-effective platform for anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and sonar operator training, simulating a range of underwater threats.

The SEMA Autonomous Underwater Vehicles provides a realistic and adaptable platform for training naval personnel in ASW and sonar operations. By simulating various underwater threats, from submarines to torpedoes, the training target allows trainees to develop critical skills in detection, classification, tracking, and engagement in a controlled and cost-effective environment. This enhances training effectiveness and prepares personnel for real-world scenarios.

SEMA is designed to train every platform, from ASW aircraft and helicopters to submarines and frigates.

REALISTIC THREAT SIMULATION

The SEMA platform can simulate a variety of underwater targets with both active and passive acoustic signatures, speeds, and manoeuvrability profiles. This enables the creation of complex training scenarios that challenge sonar operators and ASW teams, improving their ability to detect and classify diverse threats in realistic conditions. This includes simulating both conventional and advanced submarine threats.

THREAT SIMULATION, ADAPTABLE TRAINING SCENARIOS, ENHANCED OPERATOR SKILLS

REDUCING COST, REDUCING RISK

SEMA provides a cost-effective alternative to live target exercises, reducing the need for expensive and logistically complex deployments of real submarines or other naval assets. This allows for more frequent and comprehensive training exercises, maximising training value and improving overall operational readiness. The deployment of SEMA also mitigates the risks associated with live ordnance training.

SEMA is an autonomous, recoverable, acoustic and magnetic target vehicle dedicated to enhancing Europe’s ASW capabilities.
