FLANQ AND NORRENBROCK TECHNIK ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO DELIVER Q-KONTAIN CONTAINERISED MISSION MODULES FOR UNCREWED NAVAL OPERATIONS

FLANQ AND NORRENBROCK TECHNIK ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO DELIVER Q-KONTAIN CONTAINERISED MISSION MODULES FOR UNCREWED NAVAL OPERATIONS

Rostock, Germany – June 22, 2026 FLANQ, a German defence technology company focused on autonomous maritime systems and scalable capability solutions, and Norrenbrock Technik, a specialist in modular military container systems, today announced a strategic partnership to co-develop and market a family of containerised mission modules configured for naval defence and security operations under FLANQ’s Q-KONTAIN concept.

The partnership will combine FLANQ’s rapidly maturing family of Q-RECON uncrewed surface vessels (USVs), payloads and AI-powered system architecture with Norrenbrock Technik’s decades of experience producing certified, military-specification container systems. Together, the companies will deliver a scalable suite of mission-specific modules engineered for the full spectrum of modern naval requirements – from drone command and control to in-theatre manufacturing, to USV logistics and mission-critical services.

This announcement marks the latest in a series of partnerships through which FLANQ has assembled an end-to-end, uncrewed-first maritime capability stack at speed. Existing partnerships are already delivering secure tactical communications for USV command and control, and USV-launched unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

Deploy fast, deploy anywhere
Aligned with NATO’s growing focus on affordable, rapidly deployable infrastructure, FLANQ’s Q-KONTAIN concept centres on self-contained ISO container modules that can be configured, transported and forward-deployed to support the operation and sustainment of FLANQ’s USV fleet.

Initial Q-KONTAIN module variants will include:

• Command and Control (C2) Fully self-contained, command modules equipped with secure communications and battle management interfaces, enabling commanders to establish an operational node within hours of deployment ashore or at sea.
• Distributed Manufacturing Production Unit (DMPU) Mobile, in-theatre fabrication and repair capability designed to sustain autonomous platform fleets in forward operating environments, reducing dependency on high-value factories and easily disrupted logistic chains.
• Store, Service, Sustain (S3) Dedicated modules for the transport, maintenance, inspection, and rapid configuration of FLANQ’s uncrewed surface vessel fleet, enabling persistent USV operations from remote or expeditionary bases.

Each 20ft or 40ft Q-KONTAIN module is designed for transport by road, rail, air or vessel, with standardised loading, lifting and latching interfaces enabling rapid reconfiguration on the back deck or in a vessel’s mission bay. The modular architecture helps navies avoid bespoke infrastructure and enables capabilities to be surged, repositioned and sustained more efficiently.

Daniel Esser (pictured right), Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer , FLANQ said: “Naval doctrine across Europe is changing fundamentally. Forces and specialised units need capabilities they can build fast, move fast and sustain in-theatre. Q-KONTAIN, in collaboration with Norrenbrock Technik, is our answer to that challenge: purpose-built modular infrastructure that delivers operational effect from day one of deployment. Norrenbrock Technik brings the engineering rigour and certified manufacturing background needed to transform this concept into operational capability we can deliver today.”

“We have spent years developing and fielding certified military container systems across land domains. Partnering with FLANQ allows us to bring that engineering expertise directly into the naval sphere, at a moment when demand for exactly this kind of rapid, scalable, containerised capability has never been greater. Q-KONTAIN is a compelling concept, and we are proud to be the manufacturing partner that will bring it to the Europe, NATO and our allies,” said Robert Norrenbrock (pictured left), Managing Director, Norrenbrock Technik.
